Train Services for Giggleswick and Settle

There is a regular train service between Leeds and Carlisle on the scenic Settle-Carlisle railway line which stop at Settle and between Leeds and Lancaster on the Morecambe line which stop at Giggleswick.  Giggleswick Station is a mile’s walk to Giggleswick Church.

Bus Services for Giggleswick and Settle

There are buses to & from Skipton,  Kirkby Lonsdale and Lancaster that call at Settle and Giggleswick.  The service numbers are 580 581 582.

Car Parking in Settle

If you come by car and want to leave it for 3-5 days in Settle, contact Craven District Council www.cravendc.gov.uk   Tel 01756 700 600.

If you have time to spare in Settle, the Folly Museum which you pass near the start of the Pilgrimage, is worth a visit not only for it local history, archaeological and other exhibits, but for its provision of refreshments. There are  a number of other cafés and restaurants in and around the centre of Settle as well.

 

 

Return to Settle or Giggleswick

There are a few routes to return to Settle and Giggleswick.  One via Hawes to Garsdale Head and the other via Northallerton and Leeds.

Middleham, Hawes, Garsdale Head, Settle

There are 7 trains a day except for Sunday that stop at Garsdale Head and Settle.  The 28 minute train journey to Settle goes through spectacular scenery, high above Dentdale and over the Ribblehead Viaduct.

To get to Garsdale Head, there is a bus service 159 from Middleham to Leyburn, then change at Leyburn for the bus service to Hawes. Change again for the bus service to Garsdale Head Station.

Middleham, Spennithorne, Northallerton, Leeds, Settle or Giggleswick

The route is via Northallerton where the station is on the East Coast line and there are regular trains to Leeds.

Middleham is 18.5 miles from Northallerton. There is bus service from Spennithorne to Northallerton. (Spennithorne – 3.5 miles from Middleham)

Middleham, Ripon, Leeds, Settle or Giggleswick

This route is bus service 159 from Richmond to Ripon change at Ripon to the bus service 36 to Leeds.  At Leeds catch a train to Settle or Giggleswick.
